Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony

Our Series

Signature Series

The world’s greatest music, a fabulous orchestra, a dynamic new Music Director, and an acoustically wonderful hall — these are the ingredients of our Signature series. This is the orchestra’s most important series, where the music of the great composers comes to life. You'll hear Beethoven, Mozart, Strauss, Ravel, Berlioz, Stravinsky, and more. Featuring the finest guest artists, these are the performances by the orchestra and Edwin Outwater that everyone will be talking about.

Intersections Series

Hip new vibe, alternative venue, and 3 incredible soloists! This series will explore the points where classical music meets other kinds of music and art: rock, jazz, folk, ethnomusicology, literature, and theatre. Each concert is focused on a dynamic artist that bridges the gap between classical and another art form. This completely new approach to music presentation is sure to make waves across the world of classical music!

Generations Series

New Music Director Edwin Outwater will collaborate with host Tom Allen to present this Sunday afternoon exploration of music which is all about getting to know Edwin and the KWS. We’ll talk about the music we play, the composers we love, and how we work together to make it happen. Presented in the style of Leonard Bernstein’s Young People’s Concerts, these afternoon presentations are created for an audience of all ages. These concerts are the gateway to our Signature Series.

Pops Series

Pops is pure fun. In this varied and dynamic series, you will meet our new Music Director, Edwin Outwater, & enjoy concerts with Music Director Laureate Raffi Armenian. You’ll also spend a spirited night at the Proms (one of the great British musical traditions), meet a disgruntled Mountie, and hear two Men with Horns!

Youth Orchestra Series

The KWS Youth Orchestra Program has a 40 year tradition of music education and outreach in the KW region and beyond. Our intensive Orchestral Training Program offers instruction and inspiration for young musicians from early ages through high school and university level, on all instruments of the contemporary symphony orchestra. Organized in progressive levels, the four ensembles (Youth Strings, Valhalla Brass, Sinfonia and Youth Orchestra), present their own concert series at CITS and perform throughout the Waterloo region, reaching out to many arts organizations and community groups of all ages.

Combining a passion for music with fun and friendship, the Youth Orchestra Program trains future instrumentalists, music lovers and audience members!
